How HD Analog Works

Analog CCTV technology has been around for more than thirty years

in the security industry, giving users to security even when they aren't at the location. While the surveillance industry is moving toward IP technology,

analog systems are still a popular choice.

Traditional analog cameras measure resolution by the number of horizontal lines,

called TVL. A higher the number of lines in an image means better resolution

(by contrast, IP cameras measure resolution in pixels).

The new HD analog technology allows you to record megapixel resolution video

using analog components, resulting in 720p HD resolution from an analog system.

These analog cameras continue to use standard coax cabling, DVRs, and can be easily mixed into your existing system. Please note, however, that you will need an HD DVR.

The benefits of HD analog over HD IP cameras include:

  • Lower camera costs
  • Simple installation, using the same process already in place for standard analog cameras
  • Easy integration into an existing CCTV system
